TJ Inspection’s Materials Inspector is aware of the Best Practice for Offloading, Recommended Field Inspection of New Line Pipe and other Pipe Inspection Specification and ensures that these are followed. The Materials Inspector collects all Documents with pipe shipments and verifies pipe is marked with minimum yield strength or grade and pipe size (49 CFR 195.112)

The Materials Inspector also inspects each joint for defects, then marks and records any pipe showing such defects. This role checks each joint randomly for mill thickness, checks for Heat numbers and Joint numbers and record, stacks pipe according to Engineers recommended design practices and check bevels on each joint and record.

The Materials Inspector will prepare daily inspection reports and complete Material Damage Reports when necessary and submit them to the Chief Inspector.
